India is a land of mysteries. Not only in the spiritual sense but also in the realistic sense, the reason I say this is looking at the way the country runs in the name of democracy. To put it straight, the political system is so messed up that there is actually no one to listen to the common man. Yes, there is a government, there are political parties and there are politicians but truth be told, they are so caught up in their own money making activity that other things don’t really matter.
But despite all these harsh realities, the political parties tend to survive. And one among them is the Congress party. History has shown that the other name for Congress is corruption and they have come up with some of the most historic scams during their regime. But still, life goes on smooth for them. So what makes Congress a strong system? I think there are some factors that play a key role in this aspect.
I feel Congress is strong because the power centre is only in one place and their policy is clear. Whoever has been loyal to the party, they are protected and they will be safe from any case or harassment. At any given point the Congress party has its share of power even if they are not in the ruling chair. If we look at BJP, the prime opponent of Congress, such things don’t exist. As such, BJP could not do that because at only one point they cashed the Hindutva sentiment and used the Hindu-Muslim clashes to get into power.
But within the party they are not strong. See Gali Janardhan Reddy. He was the main chiefly responsible for BJP being in power but nothing could be done to protect him, same is the case with Yedyurappa who was the chief minister at one point. That way, BJP doesn’t have the internal strength to protect and create a strong network that can keep them safe from external factors. As for Congress, most of its allies like Mulayam Singh or Laloo Yadav have cases but congress has been making that difference.
They ensure that the allies don’t slip away and at the same time they keep making rounds around Congress high command. So, it must be said that it has not become the single largest party without a proper background. Today, it can be clearly said that except congress no other party has that ability to sustain so many scams but still continue to hold its power and protect its loyalists.
